THE case against a man accused of assaulting a Powys woman and witness intimidation has been adjourned until next month.
Kevin Rowland, 41, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Friday, June 28, where he was due to enter pleas to two offences. However the case was adjourned with no pleas entered.
Rowland, of Guinea Lane, Weston-under-Redcastle, near Whitchurch in Shropshire, is accused of assaulting the woman, causing her actual bodily harm, in Castle Caereinion on August 10, 2022.
He is also accused of intimidating her by sending her flowers. The charge against him states that between August 10 and December 15, 2022, Rowland, while at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham, knowing Ms Jones to be a victim and who was assisting in the investigation of an offence, sought to contact her through third parties and sent her flowers, intending to intimidate her and obstruct the course of justice.
Rowland initially appeared at Welshpool Magistrates’ Court on May 28 where the case was sent to the crown court, with no pleas entered.
Rowland was told that a plea and trial preparation hearing could not proceed on Friday as a legal representation order is still being applied for.
Judge Rhys Rowlands told him he was adjourning that hearing until July 19.
Rowland was granted conditional bail preventing him from making contact with the complainant.
