A group based near Machynlleth will be organising a community hike to protest a proposed wind farm by Bute Energy.

The community group Protect Glaslyn & Hafren will be holding a hike on Sunday, July 7, to protest Bute Energy’s proposed Esgair Galed wind farm.

The 7-mile walk will start from Dylife car park at 10am and take protestors along Glyndwr’s Way to Glaslyn Nature Reserve and back.

In their newsletter, a spokesperson for the group said: “. This is probably the most important event as we want it to be a huge show of strength of opposition to Bute's plans.

“Please bring a picnic lunch and plenty to drink. There will be a minibus to ferry less able walkers from Dylife to Glaslyn gate so you can walk down to Glaslyn and picnic with those doing full hike. The minibus can also ferry those wanting to only walk one way back to Dylife.

“Dogs not recommended due to ground nesting birds and livestock, however very well socialised and well behaved dogs on short leads welcome.

“So whether you can walk long distances or just want a short stroll, do come along and join in this Community Event.”
