The Met Office has posted temperatures of 24 degrees in the Portuguese town of Albufeira, slightly below that of the Powys town.
Even as temperatures are expected to cool in the evening, Welshpool still sneaks ahead of the city on Portugal’s southern coast.
At 8pm for instance, Albufeira is expected to have temperatures of 20 degrees. Meanwhile in Welshpool, the Met Office is predicting temperatures to be as high as 22 degrees Celsius by 8pm.
Those who are enjoying the heat shouldn't get too comfortable though - the forecast is for a much more modest high of 19 degrees in Welshpool on Thursday (June 27), and temperatures are expected to remain below 20 degrees into next week.
