A MAN has won his appeal against a conviction for sexually assaulting a woman in Powys.
Dominic Hughes denied sexual assault on a female in Lion Street, Brecon, on July 20, 2023, but was found guilty at his trial at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates’ Court on November 8 last year.
Hughes, 53 at the time of his conviction, immediately appealed his conviction, and has now been successful in his appeal.
He came before Judge Simon Mills at Merthyr on February 2, where he was granted bail on condition of residence at Gregory Avenue, Coventry.
Merthyr Crown Court confirmed on Tuesday, June 25, that Hughes’ appeal was heard on March 15 and was successful.
A statement read: “It was ordered that the appeal against be allowed and the sentence be not proceeded with as the appeal was allowed.”
