The theft of a quad bike from Llanbrynmair has promoted the police to offer advice on how to protect them from being stolen.

A vehicle was reported stolen from a property in Llanbrynmair in the early hours of Monday, June 24.

Police confirmed that they are currently investigating the incident, but have also warned other farmers and quadbike owners in the area to adopt additional security methods to protect the vehicles from criminals.

In a statement, Aberystwyth and Machynlleth Police said: “We are currently investigating an attempt theft of a quad in the early hours of this morning Monday 24th of June at a property near Llanbrynmair, Powys.

“Whilst Dyfed-Powys remains one of the safest places to live and work, sadly we are not immune to crime and a continued increase in quad thefts has highlighted the need for you to adopt additional security measures to deter criminals.”

For ways of securing and protecting quadbikes, the police also shared some methods for making sure they are less likely to be stolen.

These included: “Always remove the keys when the quad is not in use, even if you are close by.

“When not in use lock the keys away in a key box.

“Restrict access to your farm by closing lane gates and seal off entrances and gateways that are no longer used.

“Mark the quad with your farm name and postcode.”
