An auctioneers firm is to set up a new regional office at the historic Gregynog Hall near Newtown, and will hold fine art auctions in the Music Room.

Rogers Jones & Co's first order of business at the new location will be a double bill of auctions housed in the landmark Music Room.

The flagship Welsh Sale will take place on July 27, followed by their first British & European Art sale.

The company's auctioneer, Ben Rogers Jones said: "Staging two major auctions at Gregynog marks another milestone in the historic house’s history as well as in our company history."

Exactly 100 years prior, Gregynog became the home of art patrons Gwendoline and Margaret Davies.

The Music Room was the focus of conferences, concerts, music festivals and esteemed art exhibitions.

Renowned works by artists such as Botticelli, El Greco, Manet, Monet, and Cezanne were proudly displayed in this room.

Rogers Jones says it aims to offer the finest Welsh art to collectors both in Wales and internationally.

Mr Rogers Jones added: "This famous room is sure to create a special atmosphere for these two special art auctions, and it really will be an amazing sight to see it full of bidders at Gregynog.

"We hope, as a company, to honour the legacy of the Davies sisters.

"Our new office will be a hub for existing and new Rogers Jones clients. We’ll be offering free appraisals and valuations, by appointment, and be able to consign items for any of our auctions and successful bidders can collect from here too.

"We have dedicated parking bays for customers and secure, insured storage so hopefully it’ll be a convenient and easy process for vendors and buyers alike."

The official opening of the new office is set for July 26, with a special viewing in the Music Room, accompanied by drinks, music, and refreshments.

The music room, will be open from 1pm for visitors to look around, before wine and refreshments at 3pm.

Artworks up for bidding include pieces from Sir Kyffin Williams, Charles Tunnicliffe, Claudia Williams, and Ceri Richards among others.

The British & European Art Sale will feature works from Ken Howard OBE, Dame Laura Knight, Sir Terry Frost, and Theodore Major, to name a few.

Artwork from Gwen John will be on show next to two bronzes from Gregynog’s permanent collection by August Rodin, who was a former lover of Gwen.

The new regional office, is in close proximity to the car park and the café.

Situated on the edge of Tregynon village, Gregynog Hall is accessible from all directions.
