Powys County Council has announced it has bought new homes for social rent in the area.
Four new homes in south Powys have been purchased as part of efforts to increase the number of affordable and secure social housing available to the county’s residents.
The purchase was part of the council’s ‘Off the Shelf Scheme’ and was secured from Morgan Homes, the developers of the 110 new houses at Parc Brynygroes in Ystradgynlais.
As part of the planning permission for the new development, four houses were allocated for affordable housing while the rest are available for general sale.
This new homes help in the council's 'At Home in Powys – Housing Business Plan' mission, a five-year programme aiming to provide more houses for social rent.

Matt Perry, Powys County Council's chief officer – Place, said: "The council has an ambitious plan to help tackle the housing emergency in the county and this ‘Off the shelf’ purchase will help us achieve this.
"We want to secure more social homes across the county, either through building new council homes ourselves, working with housing association partners or by working with housing developers and agreeing future package deals.
"This will then allow us to provide more social housing that meets the needs of our residents and ensures that we help to build a stronger, fairer, greener future for Powys."
