A Powys man has pleaded guilty to making indecent images of sexual abuse involving children - including seven deemed the most serious.

Anthony John Millard, 21, will be sentenced next month after admitting three counts of making indecent images over an eight-year period in Llandrindod Wells.

Millard, of Dol y Dderwen, Ystradgynlais, was ordered by the judge to register as a sex offender at a police station within 24 hours of his appearance at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Wednesday morning, June 19. The order is imposed for five years.

His barrister Alycia Carpanini told the court that the young man, who has additional learning needs including autism, asked the judge to order a pre-sentence report "in light of his clean character and his first offence".

His Honour Judge Jeremy Jenkins told Millard: "You’ve pleaded guilty to serious matters. The next stage is to pass sentence.

"You are a young man with no previous convictions and it’s only right to order a pre-sentence report. That should give you no indication whatsoever what sentence will be passed. All sentencing options including immediate custody are open."

The judge granted Millard bail on the condition that he co-operates with the probation service who will write the pre-sentence report.

Millard will be sentenced on Wednesday, July 17, after pleading guilty to making seven Category A, three Category B and three Category C indecent images.
