The route for the parade in the upcoming Welshpool Carnival has been changed due to safety concerns with the original path of the parade.
After health and safety concerns were raised with the proposed route for the parade in Welshpool’s upcoming Caribbean Carnival, Operations Manager Paul McGrath identified issues with the access to Jehu Road junction.
Events, planning, and market officer Kimberly Wright raised the issue at a town council meeting, proposing to change the route for the carnival’s scheduled start on Sunday, June 23.

The new plan is for the parade to begin at 12pm, setting off from the Quarry garage on Brook Street before travelling down a straight route to Maes-y-dre Recreation Ground.
The afternoon will see a variety of charity, community and food stalls and entertainment in the arena from 1pm until 5pm.
This includes a nine-hole miniature golf course, a dog and duck show, a funfair and a falconer.
Montgomery Energy Group’s free bike scheme will also return to the carnival this year, allowing people to bring their unwanted and unused bikes to exchange for recycled bikes, encouraging an environmentally friendly method of transport whilst having fun and keeping fit.
There will also be Caribbean limbo dancers, a steel drum band, the Mid Wales Classic Vehicle Club and more.
