A CASH machine stolen from a Powys Co-op store in the early hours of Tuesday morning has been recovered, along with three vehicles suspected of being involved – though police have as yet made no arrests.

Dyfed Powys Police confirmed that the ATM at the Co-op in Talgarth was removed by burglars at around 3am on June 18.

The thieves smashed through the brand-new Hay Road building with a forklift – suspected to itself have been stolen before being used in the raid.

“Dyfed Powys Police received a report of a burglary at the Co-op in Talgarth at around 3am this morning (June 18),” said the force in a statement.

“Sometime between 2.55am and 3.05am the ATM was removed from outside the building.

“Three vehicles and the ATM have since been recovered. No arrests have been made at this time.

“Specialist officers (drone operators and dog handlers) and the National Police Air Service have been assisting with enquiries.

“Police remain at the scene. House to house, CCTV and other enquiries are ongoing.”

Despite the fact the ATM and three vehicles were recovered, police did not confirm if any suspects were in custody and said they were not releasing any more information while the investigation is ongoing. They did confirm no arrests have been made.

The Hay Road premises only opened at the location last September on a derelict former Powys County Council highways depot on the edge of town.
