“Our Cardiff-based crew were allocated at 06:56am and attended by air. They arrived at the scene at 07:46am. Our involvement concluded at 09:29am.”
CPR was given to the driver of the vehicle, the only person involved in the crash, at the scene by members of the fire service. They also made use of a defibrillator before the casualty was taken to hospital by the air ambulance.
A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire Service said: “At 6.24am on Tuesday, June 18, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Llanfair Caereinion and Welshpool Fire Stations were called to an incident on Bridge Street, Llanfair Caereinion.
“Crews responded to a road traffic collision involving one private motor vehicle that had collided with a parked vehicle.
“Crew members administered CPR to the vehicle’s one occupant and utilised a defibrillator. The casualty was then conveyed to hospital by Air Ambulance.
“This incident required a multi-agency response, with Dyfed-Powys Police, the Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance also in attendance. The road was closed while the incident was ongoing.
“Crews left the scene at 8am.”
The incident added to traffic troubles in Llanfair, as multiple emergency road closures were already ongoing in the area.
A stretch of the B4385 at Mount Road was closed by Hafren Dyfrdwy between June 17 and June 21 for work to renew a boundary box. Meanwhile a stretch of road on Watergate Street, by the town’s fire station, was also closed at the time for Scottish Power to carry out work.
Mid and West Wales Fire Service added: “As for the closure of Watergate Street, the Fire Rescue Service and Llanfair crew are aware of this, however it shouldn’t impact on their emergency response and they were able to get the fire truck out to respond to the Bridge Street incident earlier today.”
Dyfed Powys Police confirmed that the road remained closed whilst the vehicle was recovered, and re-opened at approximately 11am.
