The front wheel of a plane sheared off after bouncing down a Powys runway.

The Air Accident Investigation Branch has released a report on an incident which took place at Welshpool Airport earlier this year.

On March 29 a light aircraft came into difficulties when landing at the airport.

The pilot was flying a Cessna 152 – “an American two-seat, fixed-tricycle-gear, general aviation airplane, used primarily for flight training and personal use.”

OTHER NEWS:

According to the report by the Air Accident investigation branch the plane had an unusual landing in which “the aircraft bounced” pushing it back up into the air.

However, in a heart stopping moment for the pilot “on the subsequent touchdown the nose landing gear broke off” – meaning there was no front wheel on the plane

This unbalanced the plane and according to investigators at the Air Accidents investigation Branch “the aircraft tipped forward” as a result of this “the propeller struck the runway”.
