Rescue teams were called out to help an injured mountain biker in Powys.

Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team along with the Ambulance teams, including the Wales Air Ambulance Service, were called out to Dyfi Bike Park on Saturday (June 15).

According to Aberdyfi Search and Rescue they were alerted to assist with a rider who a was injured on the course in the afternoon.

 Due to the nature of the injury the rider couldn’t be immediately taken to safety but instead had to be evacuated to a nearby room at the park to receive further treatment before they could then be airlifted to hospital.

A spokesperson for Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team said: “Shortly after 3pm, the team were requested to assist the Medic at Dyfi Bike Park with an injured rider.

“Two team members headed up the hill alongside Welsh Ambulance Service and EMRTS. Due to the nature of the injury, the casualty was evacuated to the Medic Room for further treatment before being flown to hospital.

“A big thank you to the Cafe at the Bike Park for keeping the rest of the team warm and hydrated whilst they awaited updates from the casualty site.”
