Today we invite readers to join us on a trip through time to 1970.

The decade after the Swinging Sixties was marked by unrest and upheaval.

Although the Vietnam War effectively ended with the Fall of Saigon, other conflicts arose, including the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

The United States faced political turmoil as President Richard Nixon resigned amid the Watergate scandal, and in Chile Augusto Pinochet overthrew the democratically elected government.

Also making news were the massacre at the Munich Olympics and the Iran hostage crisis.
