Newtown’s popular indoor escape room attraction has announced that it will be closing “in its current incarnation” at the end of the school summer holidays.

Beyond Breakout is located on the fourth floor of Newtown’s Royal Welsh Warehouse, Pryce Jones Building and offers online digital games, live avatar games and outdoor adventure games.

Lorna Morris and Jo Woodall, who both run Beyond Breakout, said they had “poured our hearts and souls” into building their business over the past few years.

The pair told customers that although Beyond Breakout in its current form will close in August, the business will be “going mobile” in future.

In a statement posted on Facebook on Thursday, Beyond Breakout said: “It is with mixed feelings that we have to announce that Beyond Breakout will be closing its doors in its current incarnation, on 31st August 2024.

“Our feelings are mixed as we poured our heart and souls into building our indoor games and we have loved every minute of it, but we are resourceful women, and we are very excited to take our business into a new direction.

“This means that if you have purchased a gift voucher with us, you have just under three months in which to spend it. That also means, you have just under three months left to play any of our three indoor games!

“So, it is not 'goodbye', but more of a 'see you later', as we are going mobile! So, keep your eyes peeled as you may seeing us popping up at a place near you soon!”

Earlier this year, Beyond Breakout said the Easter holidays had been the "quietest we have ever been" since opening in January 2020.

"The two of us work very hard, often putting the business before our own families and we absolutely love what we do, but sadly we also know, that this is just not sustainable," they said.

"As the saying goes, use us or lose us."
