One car went through a hedge after a head on collision in Powys.

A hatchback car ploughed through a hedge after colliding head on with another vehicle near Llanfair Caereinion on Tuesday evening (June 4).

Police and Fire crews were both called to the scene on the A458 which saw two Volkswagens come together.

The crash blocked the road for several hours while teams form Dyfed-Powys Police cleared the vehicles.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Police attended a two-vehicle road traffic collision which occurred on the A458 near Llanfair Caereinion at about 5.40pm, Tuesday  June 4.

“The vehicles involved were a white Volkswagen Polo and a black Volkswagen Golf.

“The road was blocked and clear at 8pm.”

According to Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, when they arrived at the scene everyone in the two cars had been released and no one was left trapped in their vehicles.  

A spokesperson for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue said: “At 5.48pm on Tuesday, June 4, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Llanfair Caereinion, Welshpool and Montgomery Fire Stations were called to an incident near Llanfair.

“Crews responded to a road traffic collision involving two private motor vehicles.  The vehicles had been in a head-on collision, one vehicle had come to a stop on the road while the other had continued through a hedge. 

"All persons were released from the vehicles prior to the arrival of crews.

“Crews proceeded to make the vehicles safe and assisted with traffic management while the vehicles were removed.  Crews left the scene at 7.47pm.”
