A Powys man has been told by a judge that he faces a prison sentence after he admitted making and distributing indecent images of children.

Ross Simmons, 36, admitted in the crown court to having almost 200 photos while living at his home in Hall Street, Welshpool.

Thirty-four images were classified as Category A - some of the most serious kind of imagery.

His Honour Judge Rhys Rowlands told Simmons, who had no previous convictions, that they were "particularly serious matters".

The offences, which took place between March 16 and September 12, 2022, include making 34 Category A indecent photos of child; making 68 Category B photos; distributing one Category B photo; making 91 Category C photos; and distributing four Category C photos.

The judge told Simmons that his guilty plea "will attract credit" to his sentence, which will be handed down at a hearing at Mold Crown Court on July 4.
