Some trains in Powys were running on schedule less than half the time in the past six months according to new performance data.
The latest performance data shows where the railway stations of Powys rank amongst the UK Rail Network and how often they are on time.
Many railway stations in Powys rank in the bottom half of Britain’s railway network, with some having more trains being delayed than running on time.
With data from the website On Time Trains, how often trains at various stations across Powys are on time as well as their overall performance score, calculated based on service punctuality and cancellation frequency, and ranking amongst Britain’s 2,634 stations is available for viewing.

Machynlleth proved to be one of the most reliable stations in Powys, with 61 percent of its trains running on time.
Llandrindod’s station also had more trains running on time than were delayed, with 54 percent of its trains on time. However its most frequent form of delay were trains that were at least ten minutes late, with 11 percent and had a 9 percent cancellation rate.
Welshpool, one of the busiest stations in the county with as many as 386 passengers a day, was ranked at 1,961 on the list. Just under half of all trains running through the station were on time in the past six months, with 48 percent of Welshpool’s being on time.
The data also shows that 11 percent of trains at Welshpool were delayed by more than ten minutes.
Newtown station was ranked lower than Welshpool, with just 45 percent of its trains running on time, though the amount of trains running more than ten minutes late was also 11 percent.
Builth Road, the station that serves Builth Wells, was among the bottom 500 stations in the country.
Just 43 percent of the trains running from the station were on time over the past six months and up to 14 percent of trains were more than ten minutes late. It ranked 2,994 of 2,634.
The data is found from a wide range of sources, such as National Rail, Network Rail, NaPTAN,ORR Station Usage and Open Rail Data Community.
