A Llanfyllin festival returning after a six-year break could be in danger without more ticket sales, according to organisers.

A bid to host a new instalment of the ‘Workhouse Party’ at Llanfyllin Workhouse could be cancelled as organisers have made a plea for anyone interested in attendance to purchase their tickets now.

Described as “a fabulously small and cosy, family friendly event”, the weekend will be marking 20 years since Workhouse Party began when it returns on June 21, featuring music, workshops, dancing, camping, lagers, ciders, great food, and scenery to enjoy over three Welsh summer days.

To gauge the number of interested people and ensure the event can go ahead, organisers have said they need to have sold at least 150 tickets by June 3.

Speaking on social media, Llanfyllin Workhouse spokesperson Bobbie said: “I am here to let you know that we have until June 3 to sell as many tickets as we possibly can otherwise there’s a possibility that the festival will have to be pulled.

“We had a meeting and came to the conclusion that unless we sell 150 tickets by June 3 then the party won’t be able to go ahead or will be drastically reduced.

“We don’t want that to happen. We really want it to go ahead as planned. A lot of the DJ’s and bands have already been booked, while everything has already been planned.

“So this is my callout for people to buy their tickets, to not leave it to the last minute if you actually want it to happen.

“At the moment we’ve sold about 60 and we need to have sold about 150. It’s quite a short time to sell a lot of tickets so anyone who wants the festival to go ahead then please don’t wait. We’ve got some amazing things happening.

“There’s going to be loads happening, hopefully the weather will be glorious. We’re doing all the prep to get it underway and now we just need your help.

“Obviously we haven’t had a workhouse party for quite a few years now, that was down to the pandemic and other reasons, and now we are finally putting one on and want it to go ahead.

“It’s an amazing space and this place holds a lot of culture and history in terms of the music scene in this area and needs to be used.”
