A PLEA hearing for a man accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm on a Powys man has been adjourned for a second time.

James Dimaio, 35, had been due to appear via videolink at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Friday, May 24, but failed to do so.

Dimaio is jointly accused with Joshua Davies, 19, of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Paul McCarley in Rhayader on June 28, 2022.

County Times:

Davies appeared in Merthyr in early May and entered a not guilty plea to the charge, with the case set the case down for a five-day trial, which will start on September 23.

Dimaio’s plea and trial preparation hearing was adjourned until June 7 by Judge Richard Kember who said the defendant, on remand at HMP Peterborough, “must appear” on the next occasion, otherwise not guilty pleas will be entered on his behalf in his absence.

Davies, of Alexander Street, Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire, originally appeared at a hearing in Llandrindod Wells in April via videolink, where he denied the offence. Dimaio was remanded in custody following a subsequent hearing.
