According to the police vandals have damaged the  Cwm Elan mines in the Elan Valley.

The site dates back to 1796 and is one of the major former mines in the valley.

County Times:

It is described as the Clywd-Powys Archaeological trust as “perhaps the best example of late 19th-century mining technology and planning in Powys, with the structures still remarkably well preserved.”

Dyfed-Powys Police observed that the mine is in an isolated area and can only be accessed via footpath which would have required “a considerable walk”.
