A renewable energy business based in Machynlleth walked away with one of the top prizes at this year’s Wales Business Awards.

From hundreds of Welsh businesses that entered the awards recognising the achievements from companies of all shapes and sizes, Dulas Ltd was among the award winners from 11 categories on offer at the ceremony.

As the winners of the 2024 awards were announced at a ceremony at the Vale Hotel & Resort in Hensol on Thursday, May 16, Dulas received the SME Exporter of the Year award.

The award was in recognition of the company’s “ground-breaking advances in renewable technology such as solar, wind, hydro and refrigeration to support communities in need around the world”.

The company exports its products and services to more than 80 countries around the world, with many of them focussing on solar, wind and hydro energy projects.

The recognition follows a four-month project Dulas Ltd launched feasibility of hydrogen production in Wales using renewable energy sources after being awarded funding from the Welsh Government.

Dulas Ltd also became the only UK-based manufacturer of World Health Organisation Accredited vaccine fridges, securing a £600,000 funding package from HSBC UK to ramp up the development of its solar-powered units in 2022.
