A successful cattle sale in Powys has seen a “new interest” in the Blonde breed.

The British Blonde Society reported that a sale on April 27 has seen a “new interest for the Blonde breed” with prices reaching as high as 4,000 guineas.

A spokesperson for the British Blond Society said: “The inaugural Spring sale on behalf of the British Blonde Society held at Welshpool Livestock Market, saw new interest for the Blonde breed with new and established breeders looking to buy.”

The sale in saw the first entry from the Fronfedw pen of Messrs Davies sell for the top price of 4,000 guineas.

Fronfedw Sebiumeker, a son of Fronfedw Nudd and out of the herds show cow Fronfedw Isis which caught the attention of Messrs Griffiths, Llanwnda, Caernarfon.

The next highest price was 3,800 guineas for a 2 year old bull offered by the Whistley Herd.

Whistley Tangled is “sired by the herds show winning stock bull Whistley Orthoclase and out of Whistley Ornaideach” and was sold to Messrs Alderman & Son, Gosgrove, Milton Keynes.

The sole entry from Messrs Hickin sold for 3,300gns.

Penwen Toblerone, a January 2022 born son of Idefix and out of the noted Rose family in the herd from Penwen Patricia Rose. Toblerone was knocked down to Messrs Owen & Son of Penyball, Holywell.

According to the British blonde society the price for bulls was generally high with an average price of  £3549.00
