A police investigation into an alleged robbery near a Newtown primary school during pick-up time which left a woman with serious injuries has been closed after the main suspect in the case died.
The victim was taken to hospital with facial injuries and broken fingers following the alleged attack outside Newtown Library, just yards from the entrance to Ysgol Calon y Dderwen in Park Street at around 3.05pm on Wednesday, October 4.
A 27-year-old woman was arrested at the time on suspicion of robbery, assault and assaulting police officers but she was later released on bail while officers carried out further enquiries.

Almost seven months since the attack, police have provided an update about the investigation following the death of the woman who was arrested on suspicion of the offences in October last year.
On Tuesday, April 30, a Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the investigation into an allegation of assault has been closed as the suspect has sadly passed away.”
The spokesperson for the police force added that they do not confirm or identify the identity of someone who was under arrest.
