A JAILED thief has been told he will serve no more prison time for his part in stealing a trailer from a remote Powys farm around Christmas time.
Kristian Lee Jones-Davies appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 24, where he was given a 10-week custodial sentence after he admitted theft in February.
Jones-Davies, 33, was driving a Nissan X-Trail away from a property known as Penybanc, near Llandrindod Wells, on December 26, 2022, along with an accomplice.
He admitted theft, even though he insisted he thought he was simply picking up the trailer for his friend, the passenger in the vehicle with him on the day, who he believed had legitimately bought it from a farmer.

Jones-Davies, of Pump Piece, Leominster, appeared at the hearing via videolink from prison, having recently been jailed for four-and-a-half years at Worcester Crown Court for drugs and dangerous driving offences.
He was told the 10-week sentence would run concurrently to the term he is currently serving.
Magistrates previously heard that Jones-Davies and his accomplice had been thwarted during the theft by the family who lived at the farm, who were returning home.
Amanda Bayliss, who had her young children in the car with her, noticed that a Gamic livestock trailer being towed by Jones-Davies belonged to her.
An access road to the rural property only serviced her home and another, and her neighbours were also driving down the road on the evening, leading to them stopping the would-be thieves.
There were two men in the vehicle being driven by Jones-Davies, and while his accomplice fled the scene, he locked himself in and was eventually apprehended.
Three other charges, of vehicle interference, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance, were withdrawn as it was discovered Jones-Davies has already been sentenced for those matters, serving prison time.
Speaking at the hearing, Jones-Davies said: “It wasn’t me stealing the trailer, it was my friend Michael who I thought had bought the trailer. But I did plead guilty to the offence.”
Magistrates handed Jones-Davies an additional 10 weeks, but they reassured him that he would not serve any additional prison time.
He was ordered to pay a £154 surcharge, but they ordered no costs or compensation.
