SARAH Parry has graduated from aspiring Powys rugby player to captain of England Under 18s.
The remarkable rise from the Recreation Ground to the Red Rose was completed this month when she captained England in the Women's U18s Six Nations.
Parry began her career as an eight year old at Newtown Rugby Club and came through the Worcester Warriors pathway to the English national team set up.
She said: “It was a privilege to captain the side at the U18 Six Nations to see all the work that I have put in has paid off.

"Credit to all the coaches that have helped me along the way, especially at the start with Newtown Rugby Club. The set up Darren has done there is incredible and has given girls the opportunity to play locally.”
Newtown Rugby Club women's section head coach Darren Bloor backed Parry to maintain her strides in the game.
“The club as a whole are extremely proud of what Sarah has achieved," he said. "She’s worked so hard over the last few years and deserves every success.
"She also doesn’t let anything go to her head and remains extremely grounded and humble and when possible still comes training with her friends and team mates at Newtown."
