Six men accused of being involved in burglaries in Shropshire and Powys have appeared in crown court.
The six men, who were charged with conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to steal in Shropshire and Powys last month, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court – sitting at Telford Justice Centre – on Thursday, April 18.
Recorder Julian Taylor brought Freddie Conway, 22; Thomas Nutt 26 and Andrew Baker, 35 – all of Broseley with Ryan Taylor, 31 of Telford, Wayne Price, 31 and of Cross Houses, and Christopher Downes, 34 and of Wolverhampton into the dock.
The charges relate to burglaries that allegedly occurred between July 2023 and March 2024.
Pleas will be taken on Friday, May 17 with Recorder Taylor urging listings to ensure it is placed at Shrewsbury Crown Court for a larger dock to deal with the number of defendants.
Prosecutor Dean Easthope agreed with a request from the defence barristers involved in the case leaving Recorder Taylor to set a new plea and trial preparation date of May 17.
Mr Jones told the court that a trial date of June 2, 2025 is set for the case.
All defendants were given conditional bail and ordered to sleep at their given addresses apart from Taylor who will have to report daily to Brighton police station as he will be working in the city.
All defendants were warned to not contact each other directly or indirectly and all were placed on a curfew ranging from 7pm to 7am.
Recorder Taylor said: “You are all on bail in the terms described to you.”
