A photographer in Welshpool has launched a workshop and gallery which he hopes will be a “creative hub” for photography in the town.
Bradd Carr, a photographer based in Welshpool, has recently opened a studio in one of the units at the Fox Complex in Severn Road, which he hopes will function as both a gallery and studio for anyone interested in learning or seeing photography for the Powys landscape.
While Bradd hopes to use the space for his own creative endeavours, he also wants to welcome visitors to the studio for some photography editing and creative writing workshops, serving as a creative hub for Welshpool’s photography scene.
He said: “I’ve been working on a limited campaign towards this for the past two years so it’s excellent to be set up in my own space.

“From here I’ll edit, write, host meetings to discuss ideas and business ventures, and also let it be a small showroom to display some of my photographs. But a main pillar is education, sharing ways to use the camera as a storytelling device.
“I ran some creative workshops with Carreghofa Primary School Llanymynech and it was so rewarding to see kids connecting with ways to capture nature. I’d love to see similar enthusiasm from adults which really informed the goals of this workshop.
“When I’m settled in more I’ll be welcoming more people, but the visitors I’ve had already seemed to really enjoy the work we did.
"I’ve also just finished a draft of first photography book, a collection of landscapes and scenes from across Powys. There’s also plenty of prints to look at or even buy.
“What I really want is for this to be a sort of community hub for people to share a creative space and feel inspired in whatever way they can.”
