A POWYS pub has been named the best in the county, coming only months after it reopened.
The Sun Hotel, off the A495 in Llansantffraid, was named the best in the county in the 2024 National Pub and Bar Awards recently.
Lindsay Steele, manager of the bar, said they were delighted to receive the award after only reopening in February this year.

She said: “We are delighted to announce that we have been named as the best pub in Powys, as part of the 2024 National Pub and Bar Awards.
“Having only recently reopened in February 2024, we are incredibly honoured to have our team’s hard work and achievements acknowledged by such a prestigious award.
“The Sun Hotel, based in the small Welsh border village of Llansantffraid, is a newly-refurbished 18th-century coaching inn, serving amazing food and a wonderful array of beverages.

- West Glamorgan, Britannia Inn, Gower

“Our incredibly talented head chef and his team are constantly developing and updating our menus to reflect the seasons, ensuring we are using as many seasonal ingredients in our dishes as possible.”

The National Pub and Bar Awards celebrates the very best venues, people and service standards in businesses across the entire industry.
