AN event to open the Tremont Park Play and Nature Park has been postponed until Saturday, May 4, due to the wet weather meaning work is yet to be completed.

The event had been due to take place this month but has been delayed until the first weekend in May.

The new play park for children in Llandrindod Wells, complete with a biodiversity area, was announced in January, with Llandrindod Wells Town Council announcing it was working with Powys County Council (PCC) to obtain ownership of the Tremont Park play area, located on the main entry road to the estate.

“As a partnership, we have been successful in obtaining full grant funding to install play equipment and also funding for a biodiversity element to the area,” the town council announced on its Facebook page in January.

“This will be managed by Powys Countryside Biodiversity Team in conjunction with the town council. Residents of the area were recently invited to have an input into the biodiversity plans which are now being worked up as an official plan.”

The council and PCC held an open day for the Tremont Park Play Area Greenspace Project at Tremont Park on January 6, so local residents could have their say on the project.

The town council said: “This event has been postponed until May 4, as the ground is too wet to complete the installation works. A new poster will be issued shortly.”
