An Easter fundraising event in Llanfair Caereinion managed to raise more than £1,300 for charities overseas and closer to home.
A special event at Moreia Chapel on Easter Sunday (March 31) saw representatives from other churches and chapels in the area, together with the wider community, join in their Easter celebrations while raising money for charity.
The representatives from other churches took part in a special bilingual Easter Sunday service, led by Reverend Euron Hughes. Refreshments were provided, as well as featuring cake and produce stalls overflowing with a wide variety of bakes and preserves.
Money raised from the event will be donated to support the UNICEF Gaza Emergency Appeal, which aims to provide humanitarian aid to civilians amidst the ongoing conflict in Palestine.

Another portion of money raised from the event will be donated to the local appeal for the Urdd Eisteddfod which is to be held in Meifod at the end of May 2024.
Gwilym Humphreys, chapel secretary, said: “It was lovely to see the chapel full on Sunday for this special event which brought the various chapels and churches in the area together to celebrate Easter in a joint service.
“We are thankful to Rev Euron Hughes who led the service and for his ongoing Ministry.
"We are truly grateful to everyone who supported the event, to those who had been busy baking and to those who served the refreshments and to all who contributed so generously to support these worthy charities.”
He added: “The money raised will be going to support two very worthy charities and events. The UNICEF Gaza Emergency Appeal provides much needed support to help children affected by the violent conflict in Gaza and Israel where more than three million people are in need and over one million are malnourished.
“Closer to home, the National Urdd Eisteddfod will take place at Meifod at the end of May and provides wonderful opportunities for the young people of Wales .
"On behalf of the chapel may we thank everyone for their kind donations and incredible generosity.”
Previously the chapel has also hosted events to raise money for both local and international causes, such as donations to Ukraine, Syria and Turkey, as well as previous donations to the Urdd Eisteddfod local committee, the Sunday School, the St Mary's Church clock restoration appeal and to the Dementia charity.
