Machynlleth’s multi-award winning Hennighan’s Fish and Chip shop, has previously been named one of the best fish and chip shops in Wales, being shortlisted among the top 40 finalists in the Takeaway of the Year category in the National Fish and Chip Awards 2024.

One reviewer said: “The food we had from this brilliant chip shop was fabulous. The fish was cooked to almost perfection, with a crisp batter and lovely tasting and flakey white haddock fillet.”

Caersws Fish Bar

A chip shop that boats having the poshest fish finger in Wales among its culinary creations, which the County Times described as being beautifully tender with a wonderful crunchy batter around the outside when we tried it.

A reviewer on TripAdvisor said: “We’ve eaten from here a few times now as we live locally. The fish is always perfectly cooked with crispy, light batter and the chips are lovely too. Customer service is great, happy smiley staff. Highly recommended.”

“I have visited this chip shop whenever I am in the area” wrote one reviewer. “The food is first class and the staff are brilliant. The portions are very large but quality is not compromised. I recommend the a large cod and the saveloy sausages.”

Silver Fish, Newtown

Found on Broad Street and with an average rating of 4.5 on TripAdvisor, residents seem to appreciate this Newtown chip shop.

One reviewer wrote: “After travelling a long way to get home we needed a break and found this truly wonderful chip shop. The portions were extra large and the prices staggeringly low.

"Compared to many, many other similar outlets this must be tops. The quality of the food for all of us was as perfect as you can get.”
