A POWYS woman will pay compensation and undergo treatment after she admitted stealing bottles of vodka from a shop.
Jade Cambridge, 38, admitted theft when she appeared at court this week. She stole the bottles of Smirnoff Red Label vodka from the Spar store on High Street in Presteigne on October 15 last year.
Prosecutor James Sprunks told magistrates in Llandrindod Wells on Wednesday, March 27, that Cambridge, of Millbank, Presteigne, was identified by CCTV.
“Alex Slater was working at Spar, when he was made aware by staff of a shoplifting incident,” said Mr Sprunks.

“He went to review CCTV and saw the defendant enter the store, take three bottles of vodka off the shelf and leave the shop.
“She walked past the till area, making no attempt to pay. She had taken an amount of Smirnoff Red Label vodka, valued at £48.87. The defendant replied ‘no comment’ in interview.”
He said Cambridge had 11 previous convictions for 20 offences, including previous thefts.
Acting for Cambridge, Jess Smith said the incident happened some time ago.
“She was struggling at the time with substance misuse,” said Ms Smith.
“This was during the infancy of a community order, which is due to end in September.
“She has an underlying issue with drug misuse. She has not used cocaine for a month and wants to go on a drug rehabilitation programme. She is motivated to engage.”
Harriet Beer-Doblon, of the probation service, said Cambridge has been working well with her supervising officer. She said: “The only worry is her substance misuse, which is linked directly to her offending.”
Magistrates told Cambridge to comply with a new 6-month community order, which will have a drug rehabilitation review requirement attached.
She was also told she must pay £48.87 compensation to Spar.
