A main road through Welshpool will be temporarily closed this weekend to make way for the 2024 Welshpool 10k Run.
On Sunday, March 24, the length of the A458 trunk road along Broad Street in Welshpool will be closed to vehicles and cyclists between 5am and 1pm.
The closure will extend from the junction of Broad Street with Berriew Street, Church Street and Severn Street to the junction of High Street with Jehu Road.
Berriew Road and Red Lane, which are part of the route, will be closed while runners are competing in the race. They will re-open once runners and support crews are using these roads.
Severn Road / Severn Street will made one-way for the duration that Broad Street is closed for the event.

Alternative routes are available for cars travelling in both directions.
For traffic making its way through town the alternative route will be along the B4381 Severn Street and Severn Road, along Mill Lane, the A458 on Church Street, along Union Street and the B4381 on Brook Street to Raven Roundabout and then eastbound along a length of the A458.
The alternative route for northbound traffic will be to travel south on the A458 to Sarnbryncaled Roundabout, then on the A483 to the Old Station Roundabout and continue via the alternative route through town.
All vehicles accessing properties on Berriew Street, Oldford and Llyndu Terrace will be managed and controlled by the event organisers.
