Pictures shared by Clun Fire Station show the extent of the fire which burned the wooden frontage of the house and left charred remains of a kitchen appliance and worktop surface.
Two fire appliances were mobilised from Clun, and were assisted by a crew from Leintwardine, Herefordshire before leaving more than two hours later at around 5.15am.
Two hose reel jets and four breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire. Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said ladders, small gear and salvage sheets were also used to cover the damaged area.
In a statement shared on social media, Clun Fire Station said: “In the early hours of this morning, we were alerted by fire control to a house fire in the Clunton area.
“On arrival, we found a fire contained to the kitchen area of a domestic property. All occupiers had safely exited the building and crews worked quickly to extinguish the flames.”
