"All 19 bedrooms and bathrooms were refurbished, as were all the public areas.
"Set in the heart of the world-renowned 'Town of Books,' Hay-on-Wye, it is an ideal base to explore the Brecon Beacons and surrounding countryside.
"With a choice of 3 dining areas, visitors can choose to dine in the beautiful Garden Room restaurant, the snug or the more informal bar."
While one visitor to the hotel commented: "This is an understated, lovely hotel. Room was warm; bed had a quality mattress and decent pillows. Bathroom was well-appointed.
"Pies, Sunday roasts of strong quality. Bars and lounges ensure atmosphere can be relaxed and formal.
"The staff here are absolutely top drawer - welcoming, professional and with great attention to detail."
3. Drovers Rest

Drovers Rest consists of three "gorgeous" stone cottages and six "super posh" Safari glamping tents (all sleeping two to four people) set on an award winning organic Farm near Hay-on-Wye.

"We stayed in the Cart House with our two Hungarian Vizslas, and ate in The Barn with the family every night - and I couldn’t recommend it any higher.
"One of the best UK, dog-walking stays we’ve ever had. Will certainly be coming back again."
4. Seven Stars
