Pupils from a Welshpool school were on hand to help redecorate the town’s newly improved memorial garden.
On March 6, town councillors Alison Davies and Richard Church were joined by pupils from Ysgol Gymraeg Y Trallwng to do some planting at the Welshpool memorial garden on Howell Drive off Severn Road.
The planting scheme follows a £5,000 improvement to the space, funded by a Local Places for Nature community and town council grants scheme, an initiative intended to enable communities in Wales to restore and enhance nature.
The group planted shrubs and perennials in the flowerbeds, adding to the improvements made with the grant money.

The garden was constructed and designed to serve as a quiet contemplation area and as a lasting memorial to those who lost their lives in the two world wars and other wars since.
There is a memorial stone located in the gardens in memory of Cpl Paul Thomas who lost his life in conflict.
Remembrance events are held in the garden every year in November, so the grant will go towards enhancing the space for as a nature space as well as for those visiting the memorial year after year.
