A renowned Powys chef has reached the final of the BBC’s Great British Menu to represent Wales.
Corrin Harrison, head chef at the celebrated Gwen in Machynlleth, beat his fellow competitors to represent Wales, blowing away the judges with his fish and dessert courses.
Corrin managed to beat out a trio of highly talented fellow Welsh chefs with enormous confidence - even being able to make a cup of tea for his fellow chefs whilst making his dessert.
In a post on social media Corrin said: “ 2024 Regional Champion for Wales @greatbritishmenu
“Pleasure to get through to the next round, commiserations to the other chefs @larkincen @dwyerlewismr @nickrudge7.”

Head judge – double Michelin starred Tom Kerridge - said his fish dish, a re-imagining of a classic Caribbean saltfish dish, dedicated to guest judge and Welsh athletics legend Colin Jackson, was one of the tastiest dishes he’d enjoyed “in a long time”.
However it was his dessert, that was the star of the show.
His Miso treacle tart with a honey and yoghurt ice cream gained a near perfect score from judges who also included comedian Ed Gamble and Mowgli founder Nisha Katona.
On his way to victory, Corrin had managed to beat fellow celebrated Welsh chefs - including Nick Rudge who after training under Heston Blumenthal opened his own restaurant in Conwy, The Jackdaw, Lewis Dwyer, who recently opened his own place, Hiraeth, to critical acclaim and quickly earned 2 AA rosettes and Larkin Cen, from The Monkey King at Newport’s Celtic Manor who champions traditional Chinese cooking with a Western edge.
Corrin has spent most of his career at one of the UK’s best restaurants the double Michelin starred Ynyshir just outside Machynlleth and has set up a sister restaurant to it in the town gaining a place in the Michelin guide after only a few months.
