People who feel strongly about a proposed permanent 20mph speed limit on the A489 through Kerry near Newtown have until March 1 to have their say to Powys County Council.

Powys County Council is proposing to review the speed limit on the A489 in Kerry by introducing a permanent 20mph zone in the main core of the village between Argoed bungalow and the primary school.

The speed limit through the village was not affected by the recent 20mph changes despite concerns raised by residents about drivers ignoring the 30mph limit.

As part of the proposal, the area between the Newtown end of the village and near the black and white Dolforgan Lodges would remain a 30mph zone despite there being two large housing estates and a zebra crossing which residents say motorists ignore putting people at risk while crossing the road.

The 40mph limit on the Sarn side of the village would be extended to the proposed 20mph limit near the school.

People who want to share their views must include their name, email address, full postal address, and substantiated reasons for any objections need to send an email to traffic@powys.gov.uk no later than Friday, March 1.

Powys County Council ask that people use the wording "A489 and C2012 Kerry - Speed Limit Review Representation" as the subject line in their email so that the message can easily be identified as a representation to this particular Traffic Order proposal.
