Dozens of high-profile comedians have been added to the lineup of the 2024 Machynlleth Comedy Festival with several new shows.
Having announced the bulk of their lineup in December 2023, Machynlleth Comedy Festival have been far from quiet in the first few weeks of 2024, announcing several more big names in British comedy who are scheduled to perform at the upcoming event.
Many of the new performers, whose appearances at the festival were announced in January and February, will be bringing work in progress shows to the event, workshopping new material ahead of larger official tours.
Among comedians recently added to the lineup includes Josh Widdecombe, brother of Machynlleth Comedy festival co-founder Henry Widdecombe.
Other acts announced in 2024 include Widdecombe's fellow Taskmaster alumni Mark Watson, Lou Sanders, Rose Matafeo, Sophie Duker, musical comedy duo Flo and Joan, as well as Welsh talent in the form of Elis James and Tudur Owen.
The newly announced acts are among dozens of other performers as the show has steadily added to its 2024 repertoire during the past few weeks.
Mike Wozniak is also due appear at the festival for a solo standup show. The comedian is also appearing at the festival as part of a live show by the podcast ‘Three Bean Salad’, which he co-hosts with Henry Paker and Benjamin Partridge.

Tickets for the ‘Three Bean Salad’ live show. It took just over a day for the venue to sell out its tickets for the trio of comedians before a second live show also sold out. Days after its announcement, Wozniak’s solo show in Machynlleth also sold out.
This is among what organisers of the festival have called a “record breaking year” for advanced ticket sales, as performances from the likes of James Acaster, Lorna Rose Treen and Amy Gledhill also sold out their scheduled shows.
Festival co-founder Henry Widdecombe said: “The support we’re seeing for the event this year is incredible. I’ve not experienced sales at this level since we started running the event, and multiple shows have already sold out so it’s safe to say it’s going to be a sell out year.
“Announcements will continue throughout January and February as we announce a packed programme for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. As always there’ll be over 250 shows across the three days all in the heart of Machynlleth.”
The eleventh Machynlleth Comedy Festival will be held between May 3 and May 5.
