ONE lucky Powys resident has scooped over £1.2 million on the People’s Postcode Lottery – making them the competition’s biggest ever winner. 

A total of 408 people in Llandrindod Wells are celebrating this weekend after it was revealed their postcode area of LD1 5 is the winner of a £3.2 million Postcode Lottery prize. 

And one sole spa town resident playing with the full winning postcode, which was announced as LD1 5HR, landed the biggest cheque.

Each ticket playing with this postcode was worth £403,638. Thanks to playing with three tickets, the winner, Kevin Jones, trebled his prize pot and scooped a total of £1,210,914 – making him the People’s Postcode Lottery’s biggest ever winner. 

He was visited by People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Matt Johnson on Saturday morning and was left "speechless" when handed a cheque for more than £400,000. However, Kevin was left absolutely stunned when two further cheques were handed over to him for near identical amounts.

The remaining 407 residents in the area received cheques ranging from £4,305 to £17,220, depending on how many tickets they play with.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Matt Johnson said: “I couldn’t be more pleased for all our lucky players who’ve bagged themselves a prize today in Llandrindod Wells.

“What a great way to kick start the new year. No doubt there will be plenty of celebrations taking place. Congratulations Llandrindod Wells.”
