THERE were home winners at Builth and District Running Club’s Resolution Run last weekend, with husband-and-wife team Phil and Donna Morris winning the male and female titles.
The 5K run is named because it takes place in January, with the event held over the Royal Welsh Showground, just outside Builth, on Sunday, January 28.
Phil Morris won the men’s race in a speedy time of 17 minutes 28 seconds, beating Hereford Couriers’ Ryan Lawrence by just four seconds. Zak Mountford, another Builth runner, was third.
Donna Morris won the female race in 18m 29s and was ninth overall. Hannah Thomas (20m 24s) of Maldwyn Harriers was second female and 20th overall, with BaDRC’s Joanne Rees third female (22m 2s) and 31st overall.
There were 117 entries, with the race sponsored by local kitchen supplier Howdens.
“Thank you to all that raced our Resolution Run,” said the club in a post on Facebook.
“Thanks to our main sponsors, Howdens Builth Wells and Sam Morgan for organising this, Co-op for the doughnuts.
“Thanks to the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society for providing the showground venue. Also, thanks to Nic Kelly for admin, the St John’s Ambulance, Callum Morris for helping with the set-up and Ashley Morris for opening the course.
