THE Powys football community is mourning the loss of the great Peter Canning.
The former Carno, Llanidloes Town and Caersws Reserves manager passed away just before Christmas.
A club spokesman said: “Everyone at the club is sorry to hear about the passing of Pete Canning.
“Pete had managed Carno and remained a friend of the club always, the Canning family has always had a strong link to the club and our thoughts are with them all.”
A Caersws Football Club spokesman said: “ It is with heavy hearts that we, the club, bid farewell to a respected figure and a dear friend, Peter Canning.

“As news of his passing reaches us, we reflect on the indelible mark he left on our football community, especially during his tenure as the reserve team manager.
“Peter’s dedication and passion for the game were evident in every aspect of his involvement with the club.
“His commitment to nurturing talent and instilling a sense of discipline and teamwork within the reserve team contributed significantly to the development of aspiring players.
“Beyond his managerial role, Peter was known for his amiable nature and genuine camaraderie with players, staff, and supporters alike.
“His presence on the field and in the clubhouse brought a positive energy that resonated with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
“Our deepest condolences go out to Marcus Paul and the entire Canning family during this difficult time. Peter’s impact extended beyond the football pitch; he was a friend and mentor, leaving a lasting legacy that will be cherished by those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
“As we mourn the loss of Peter, let us also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind. His contributions to the club, both professionally and personally, will forever be remembered.
“In honouring his memory, we commit to upholding the values and camaraderie that he exemplified, ensuring that his spirit lives on in the heart of our football community. Peter Canning’s dedication, kindness, and love for the beautiful game will be sorely missed.
