Two of the acts set to perform at the 2024 Machynlleth Comedy Festival have already sold out their shows as organisers celebrate record sales.
While the eleventh Machynlleth Comedy Festival is still in the midst of announcing its full line-up for the event, scheduled for May 2024, two of its acts have already sold out their shows.
James Acaster, known for his appearances on ‘Taskmaster’ and ‘Would I Lie to You’, his standup specials ‘Repertoire’ and ‘Cold Lasagne Hate Myself 1999’ and his podcast with fellow comedian Ed Gamble ‘Off Menu’, was announced as one of the festival’s performers on December 6.
Less than a week later, Machynlleth Comedy Festival announced that the comedian’s Saturday performance at the Mach Arena had already sold out.
Another performance to pack its venue is a live recording of Three Bean Salad, a podcast from Benjamin Partridge, Henry Parker and Mike Wozniak. It took just over a day for the venue to sell out its tickets for the trio of comedians, announcing the act on December 10 and revealing that just over 24 hours later that every ticket their Saturday performance at Y Tabernacle had gone.
Due to the high demand, a second Three Bean Salad show was added to the line-up, scheduled for Sunday, May 5, also at Y Tabernacle.

As some dates sell out, the festival is still announcing its full lineup throughout December. In the past week, comedians such as Michael Akadiri, Catherine Bohart, Fiona Allen, Jessica Fostekew, Raj Poojara and Celya Ab have been added to the rostra. The festival also revealed that its Showcases performance will be returning for 2024, packing as many up and coming comedians as possible into a two hour timeslot.
Festival founder Henry Widdecombe said: “The support we’re seeing for the event this year is incredible. I’ve not experienced sales at this level since we started running the event, and two shows have already sold out so it’s safe to say it’s going to be a sell out year.”
“Announcements will continue throughout January and February as we announce a packed programme for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. As always there’ll be over 250 shows across the three days all in the heart of Machynlleth.”
“Our long running partnership with BBC Radio Wales sadly came to an end this year, but this means we’re actively looking for a new sponsor for our largest space at the festival, The Mach Arena. We’d love to hear from any businesses that would like to get involved with the festival.”
