A POPULAR Powys pub has settled fears that it is closing by insisting rumours are wide of the mark.
Business at the Prince Llewelyn Inn, in the tiny village of Cilmery, near Builth Wells, has been booming since the Beach family took over and brought it back to life 18 months ago.
The pub, reopened in April 2022 under Julie Beach, whose son Tom has revitalised the menu and kitchen.

Rumours surfaced recently that the pub was to close once more, but the family have happily put those rumours to rest, with announcements on their social media platforms.
“As many, many, many of you have heard and asked apparently we are closing the doors at Christmas,” read posts on the pub’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
“This isn’t true, so please come and see our amazing Christmas lights and decorations over Christmas.
“We have festive hot chocolate and still some space for midweek Christmas parties. January is already busy so you have us for a little while longer.
“We are moving but only one half of us and we do have a knee replacement on the cards too so be gentle while Tom’s wing woman is out of action.
“Here’s to 2024 and thank you for the continued support.”
Landlord Julie, supported by husband Adrian, remains at the helm, and although Tom has moved on to full-time employment elsewhere, he will also still be helping out in the kitchen where possible.
The quaint village pub, situated beside the A483 in Cilmery, between Builth and Llanwrtyd Wells, was named a finalist at the Welsh Hospitality Awards 2023 earlier this year, in the ‘Best Family Dining Restaurant’ category.
The Prince is rated 4.5 stars on Trip Advisor, with 137 ‘excellent’ reviews out of 231.
The most recent review, in September and titled “Definitely 5 stars”, described the Prince as a “little gem of a place”.
The review stated: “I don’t usually write reviews. We came here whilst on a family holiday.
“We had a mix up with restaurants and turned up here instead of where we had booked. This place bent over backwards to accommodate us."
