It’s beginning to look more like Christmas, as Llanidloes announces plans to bring some festive cheer for everyone.
The traditional curtain-raiser to the season – the Christmas lights switch-on, will take place in Great Oak Street on Saturday, December 2, at 6pm with performers and stalls set up from around 5pm onwards.
Llanidloes Mayor Cllr Jamie Jones said: "We're hoping that this year's event will be even bigger and better than last year's. We have choirs, brass band, snow machine and, of course, Santa visiting us again.
"We had a brilliant turn out last year and we hope that we'll get similar support this year."

Local businesses will be adding some much-needed Christmas cheer with a window display competition. School children and under 18s have a chance to get involved in a junior poetry competition, as well as an Autumn and Winter-themed photography competition that's open to people of all ages including adults. Entries, including name and age, need to be emailed to llanichristmaslights@gmail.com by no later than November 27.
The Mayor added: "We're also inviting local organisations to come along and set up a stall in the hope that they can use the evening to make a bit of money for themselves.
"There is no charge for doing this but if they would like to make a donation towards the maintenance and set up of next year's display then that would be great."
