Firefighters were called out to a van fire on the road between Welshpool and Shrewsbury this morning, temporarily obstructing the route.
On Wednesday, October 18, firefighters from Shropshire were called out to an incident on the A458 in Middletown at 9.16am.
A van had caught fire while travelling down the road and was forced to stop at the roadside, with the driver fleeing the vehicle.
Cars were reportedly turning around to avoid the area in the moments before emergency services arrived on the scene.
One fire appliance was mobilised from Minsterley.

Fire crews at the scene used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and electric saws and cutters to tackle the blaze.
A statement from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service's (SFRS) incident log said: “At 09.16 on Wednesday, 18 October, 2023, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as Car Fire in Welshpool.
“One commercial van fully involved, which fire crews extinguished using two breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a short extension ladder and a REMS cat saw.
“The stop message was received at 10.21.”
