The team from a Newtown Indian Restaurant were welcomed to Parliament by Montgomeryshire MP Craig Williams for the National Curry Awards.
On October 16, the team from Newtown’s The Red Mango Indian Restaurant travelled to Parliament to receive the award for Newcomer of the Year, having first opened their doors just two years ago.
Craig Williams welcomed Aktarazzaman and Alom from the Red Mango to Parliament for the awards, as well as presenting them with their trophy and certificate.
The annual event, now in its fourth year, celebrates the highlights and successes of the UK’s Asian cuisine industry.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have a tremendous array of restaurants across the breadth of Montgomeryshire, with Indian restaurants forming a key part of Mid Wales’ hospitality sector.
“I look forward to again visiting Aktarazzaman, Alom and the whole team at Red Mango soon, not only to enjoy their fantastic food but also to see their award proudly on display.”
The awards were launched in 2019 to shine a spotlight on the creative and talented chefs working within the industry.
Erman Sasa, assistant manager at Red Mango, said he is dedicating the award to every customer and staff member who has supported the business.
After accepting the award on behalf of their business, Aktarazzaman and Alom said: “We would like to say thank you to all our customers who supported us throughout the years and in supporting us for our Newcomer of the Year award to be the best in Mid Wales.
"Thanks to all our staff who made it happen.”
