Newtown AFC continue to provide first class football with a winning style to out of area visiting football fans such as me.
After an uncertain start to the season – only one point from the first four games – Newtown have now recorded seven consecutive victories in the League of Wales.
Their most recent success was a 4-0 victory against a well organised and highly-rated Caernarfon side. As always, the Newtown victory was based on an uncompromising defence, a tigerish midfield and clinical finishing.
But the star of the show was, without doubt, Aaron Williams, who scored a tremendous hat trick.

His second goal was an absolute gem – control, volley, score – in a matter of seconds.
As the game reached its conclusion, the sizeable crowd, which was in excess of 400, were treated to the Newtown debut of a 15 year old local lad and Welsh Youth team international, who showed some neat touches.
The way they are playing, Newtown are a match for anyone in the league, and that includes top of the table and currently undefeated TNS.
On a separate note, the 20mph speed limit in built up areas in Wales had no effect on my journey time.
I completed the 200 mile round trip in just over four hours, and that included calling in at the local newsagents in Newtown for a copy of the County Times!
