A POWYS man accused of dangerous driving at the Royal Welsh Showground during one of the site's biggest events faces trial after denying the offence.
David Earnest East, 69, pleaded not guilty to one charge of dangerous driving when he appeared at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 27.
East is alleged to have committed the offence on November 30, 2021, at the Royal Welsh Showground, in Llanelwedd, Builth Wells, when the Winter Fair was being held at the venue.
East was driving a Ford Transit van at the time, at the showground’s Gate E.
East denies the offence and elected a trial at the crown court.
Elinor Jones, representing East, of Heoldraw Farm, Tretower, near Crickhowell, said the sentencing powers of the court are sufficient but that her client was electing a crown court trial.
The case was adjourned and East is now due to appear before Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on October 25.
